Nikolaus Moser (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nikolaus Moser (* 1956 in Spittal an der Drau ) is an Austrian painter. He lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna .

Career

Nikolaus Moser studied with Carl Unger and Adolf Frohner at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna . He has been represented in the international exhibition business since the 1980s.

Some of his oil paintings are created on the mountain pasture where Moser retreats every summer. He sometimes mixes earth, stones or ashes with the applied oil paints and gives the work the dimensions of reliefs , almost sculptures. In his wall meadows, suns and seas, color and light always come first.

Christian Ludwig Attersee about Nikolaus Moser: “He does not need to be the founder or pioneer of a new painting, his own handwriting is enough for him to find renewals in painting. Driftwood and the unpredictable from everyday life and the rush of longing appeal to the viewer to step into the pictures, to formally connect with them. Nikolaus Moser can do without Picasso's storytelling, Monet's power of color and Mondrian's ruler, he places brushes and spatulas in colored paint fields like a plowing ship, and again and again new representational associations are released.
