Nikolaus Schütze (born September 24, 1600 in Rostock , † May 4, 1671 in Lübeck ) was a German legal scholar , university professor and rector .

Life

Nikolaus Schütze was a son of the Rostock mayor Joachim Schütze (1564–1632) and his wife Elisabeth Gerdes. From 1617 he studied philosophy and law at the University of Rostock . Further studies followed, probably at universities in Pomerania , he came back to Rostock as a doctor of both rights (JUD). In 1631 he was appointed to the Faculty of Law as successor to Johann Sibrand the Elder. Ä. (1569–1638) appointed full council professor of law. In 1634, 1640, 1645 and 1651 he was the rectorate of the university. In addition to his professorship, he acted as a council syndicate in Lübeck. In 1653 he gave up the professorship, moved to Lübeck and became a syndic of the cathedral chapter there . Nikolaus Schütze was married to Katharina von Dorne, the sister of the Lübeck mayor Hermann von Dorne (1596–1665). There are no sources about descendants.
