Nina Zacher

Nina Zacher (born March 26, 1970 as Nina Mandl ; † May 21, 2016 ) was a restaurateur from Munich who became known through her public appearances as an activist on ALS .

Life

Nina Zacher was married and had four children. Together with her husband, she ran the St. Emmeramsmühle inn in Munich's Oberföhring district . She was diagnosed with ALS in 2012. After diagnosing her illness, she appeared on talk shows like Markus Lanz and radio broadcasts. In 2016, she died of her illness at the age of 46.

After her death, the faceALS foundation was set up to better help people with ALS. Barbara Stamm , President of the Bavarian State Parliament , is the foundation's patron .

Posthumous book publication

About her life with the disease, the book Such dir eine Schöne Stern am Himmel was published in 2018 , which her widower and daughter presented on April 26, 2018 on the talk show Markus Lanz. It was also reported on the TV show Capriccio . At the beginning of May 2018 the book took first place on the Spiegel bestseller list in the non-fiction paperback category.
