Nonnenrod

Nonnenrod is a single farm and as early as 1650, the former Vorwerk of the Benedictine monastery Johannesberg in the district of Harmerz , a district of Fulda in the East Hessian district of Fulda .

The farm is located southwest of Hamerz in the valley of the Aschehöfer Grund. In the immediate vicinity of the homestead are the four dammed Nonnenröder ponds lying one behind the other, part of which is a nature reserve, but the southernmost is used intensively for fishing. The entire area, which is part of the large Gieseler Forest , is a recreational area for the city of Fulda.

history

Nonnenrod was probably created as a small nunnery by Johannesberg provost Bonifatius von Buseck (1656–1700 provost in Johannesberg) . The old house of the estate bears a coat of arms stone with his coat of arms and the year 1698. The walls of the massive vaulted cellar ("Kapellen-Keller") are also marked with the year 1698. In 1699 there was a chapel . 1802 was expected to Nonnenrod fuldischen Provost Office Johannesberg .

The property with house, stables, 300 acre land and a flock of sheep was sold in 1819 after the territory of the former diocese of Fulda in 1816 as Grand Duchy of Fulda on Kurhessen had fallen.
