Norbert Maria Altenkamp (born July 27, 1972 in Marl , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a Hessian politician ( CDU ). In 2017 he was elected as a direct candidate in the German Bundestag . Before that he was mayor of Bad Soden am Taunus .

Life and work

Norbert Altenkamp completed an apprenticeship as a banker after finishing high school and high school ; He received the school part of the training at the Hans-Böckler-Berufsskolleg Marl / Haltern . At the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , he studied economics with a focus on public companies and administrations and hospital management . Norbert Altenkamp has been a member of the CDU since 1990 and was a member of the Junge Union from 1991 .

After his predecessor Kurt E. Bender (CDU) did not stand for election after twelve years in office, Altenkamp was elected mayor on September 28, 2003 in the first ballot with 63.3 percent of the vote. Since March 1, 2004, he has been the full-time mayor of Bad Soden am Taunus . In the elections in 2009 and 2015 Altenkamp was confirmed in office.

Through the local election Altenkamp became a member of the district council of the Main-Taunus-Kreis .

In the 2017 federal elections , Altenkamp won the mandate in the Main-Taunus constituency as a direct candidate , previously represented by Heinz Riesenhuber . Since then, Norbert Altenkamp has been a full member of the German Bundestag's Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment , the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, and a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs and the Petitions Committee . He also acts as a secretary .

In the course of this, he resigned from his office as mayor. In the resulting mayoral election on January 21, 2018, his party colleague Frank Blasch was elected as his successor with 65.8% of the votes cast. He took office on March 1, 2018.
