Norbert Hackbusch (born January 17, 1955 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and a member of the Hamburg citizenship .

Life

Hackbusch grew up as the son of a shipyard worker in Hamburg-Neuenfelde . He attended secondary school in Hamburg-Hausbruch and graduated from the commercial high school on Am Lämmermarkt . He then studied geography , economics and education at the University of Hamburg . Hackbusch was already politically active in his youth. He took part in the protest movement against the Vietnam War , in the anti-nuclear power movement and in the peace movement . At that time he was politically active in the International Marxists Group (GIM), and in 1984 he joined the Green Alternative List (GAL).

In 1993 Hackbusch first moved into the Hamburg parliament as a member of the GAL. Among other things, he sat for his group in the Committee on Budgets. He left the GAL in May 1999 together with Susanne Uhl , Heike Sudmann , Lutz Jobs and Julia Koppke in protest against the German involvement in the Kosovo war . Together, the former GAL MPs, who retained their citizenship mandate, founded the parliamentary group Rainbow , which later became the electoral association Rainbow - For a New Left .

After failing the five percent hurdle in the 2001 and 2004 mayor elections , Hackbusch turned to the newly founded WASG . The politician was critical of the merger with the PDS to form the Left Party : “There are two big problems: First, we have to be careful as hell that we are not swallowed up by the well-organized PDS. Second, there are sect-like structures in the West PDS . "

For the 2008 general election, Hackbusch ran in the Altona constituency for Die Linke as a direct candidate and was ranked 8th on the state list for citizenship. Since the Left Party in the Altona constituency received 10.3% of the votes, he has been a member of the citizenship as a directly elected member since 2008. As a direct candidate for the citizenship he was able to unite 5,547 votes and was thus the left with the most personal votes.

On February 23, 2020, Hackbusch again succeeded in entering the Hamburg parliament .

Hackbusch works at the publishing house Gruner + Jahr as head of documentation.
