The host country Italy took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1927 with a delegation of around 40 athletes, 14 of whom are currently known by name.

The Italian skiers were unable to conquer podium places, but recorded six top 10 places. The most successful was the South Tyrolean Matthias Demetz with fourth place in the endurance run over 50 km. Daniele Pellissier also achieved top places with ranks 8 and 9 in the two cross-country skiing over 18 and 50 km as well as Vitale Venzi with ranks 6 and 8 in ski jumping and Nordic combined and Luciano Zampatti with 10th place in jumping.
