Austria officially took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1927 with a delegation of 3 athletes who belonged to the General Austrian Ski Association .

The representatives of Austria achieved a 26th place in the Nordic Combined by the Viennese Hans Rattay as the best placement .

The participants of the AÖSV and their results

The AÖSV, as an avowed opponent of the introduction of the Aryan paragraph , was officially accepted as a full member of the International Ski Association last year and was granted the sole right for Austria to send athletes to international events. After the Austrian Ski Association decided to introduce the above paragraph, a large number of athletes and sometimes even entire clubs left the association. However, only a few of these skiers joined the AÖSV, which is why it did not have the necessary athletic strength. Most of the resigned ÖSV runners remained temporarily unions and therefore had no opportunity to take part in the international races.

The participants of the ÖSV and their results

The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) left the FIS in 1926 when the FIS decided not to include the aforementioned paragraph. The ÖSV had two representatives reported by the German Ski Association for the races in Cortina, which contradicted the applicable rules and would have led to a starting ban for the athletes concerned. At the request of the host country Italy, a decision was made in favor of sport. The representatives of the ÖSV were allowed to take part in the competitions, but their results, as they had been reported by the DSV, were also counted for the latter.
