Nordic World Ski Championships 1950 / participant (Austria)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Austria took part in the 18th Nordic World Ski Championships , which were held from February 1 to 6, 1950 in Lake Placid and Rumford in the United States , with an athlete.

The Austrian Ski Association did not have the financial means to send a team to North America. Karl Martitsch , who was born in Carinthia and who had already participated in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz and emigrated to North America in 1949 , was therefore given permission to represent Austria at the Nordic World Ski Championships . The results were not very satisfactory. Martitsch himself stated that due to the lack of snow in the USA, he was unable to train sufficiently this year.
