Noreen Corcoran
Noreen M. Corcoran (born October 20, 1943 in Quincy , Massachusetts , † January 15, 2016 in Van Nuys , California ) was an American actress who gained fame primarily through her television appearances.
Life
Noreen Corcoran was one of eight children of William Corcoran (1905–1958) and Kathleen McKenney (1917–1972). Four of the siblings began careers in film and television. In addition to Noreen Corcoran, the actor family consisted of Donna (* 1942), Kevin (1949-2015) and Kelly Corcoran (1958-2002).
After the family moved to Santa Monica in 1947 , the father worked as a caretaker in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios , which brought his children into connection with the film business. The then eight year old Noreen Corcoran got her first small role in 1951 in the Western Apache Drums . After graduating from Providence High School in Burbank , she attended California State University from 1962 to 1964 , but without receiving a degree.
At the beginning of the 1950s, Corcoran was mostly only seen in television shows and in supporting or extras in major film productions, including 1953 as the young Bess in The Heir apparent or 1957 as the twelve-year-old Manty in Weint um die Verdammten . Many of her appearances at the time were uncredited. Corcoran finally gained fame through her leading role in the television series Bachelor Father at the side of her series father John Forsythe . The series came to a total of 157 episodes in five years. In the years that followed, Corcoran appeared in a variety of television series. These include guest appearances in Smoking Colts and Big Valley . In 1965 she ended her career as an actress.
After the end of her film and television career, Corcoran was largely withdrawn from the public in the theater and dance scene. Among other things, she worked with Bella Lewitzky in their dance school. In 2004 Corcoran retired. She was never married, but had a close relationship with her fellow actor John Forsythe throughout her life.
Noreen Corcoran died on January 15, 2016 at the age of 72 in Valley Presbyterian Hospital of complications from a bloodstream disease.
