List of grape varieties |
Nosiola is a white wine that is grown in the provinces of Trentino and Verona in the Italian regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto . It is used, for example, in the wines of the DOC Sorni and Trentino Nosiola . Currently there are still 108 hectares (as of 1999) planted after the variety was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century.
properties
The late-ripening Nosiola produces straw-yellow, fruity white wines with a flat structure (→ lack of acidity ) and a slight bitter tone.
Nosiola is also a synonym for the white Durella grape variety . However, both varieties are not related to each other. However, DNA analyzes at the “Istituto agrario di San Michele all'Adige”, today Fondazione Edmund Mach in San Michele all'Adige, revealed a relationship to the old Resi grape variety, which is native to the Swiss Alps .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is half open. It is only hairy and greenish. The yellowish-green young leaves are hairless and shiny.
- The medium-sized leaves are three- or five-lobed and slightly curved. The stem bay is lyren-shaped open. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are medium in size compared to other varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is slightly wavy and blistered.
- The cylindrical grape is medium-sized, shouldered and dense berries. The round berries are small to medium-sized and greenish to golden yellow in color. The skin of the berries is thin-skinned and the aroma of the juicy berries is neutral.
The variety is vigorous but not very profitable as it often tends to trickle . Nosiola ripens approx. 35 days after the Gutedel grape variety and is therefore one of the late-ripening varieties.
