Notre-Dame is the Roman Catholic parish church of Confort-Meilars in the Finistère department in Brittany . The church is inscribed on the French Heritage Register and the Calvary has been classified as a Monument historique since 1914 .

history

The late Gothic Notre-Dame church was built between 1528 and 1544 by Alain de Rosmadec and his wife Jeanne du Chastel as a three-aisled church with a three-sided choir . The three-bay central nave opens in wide arcades to the side aisles. Above the west portal is the characteristic for the region lean roof rider like bell tower , which in fine tracery is executed. The current shape of the tower is the result of work between 1711 and 1736. The church has been a parish church since 1910 .

The church has a rare wheel-shaped inside chimes from the 16th century, which is classified as a single object as a monument historique. The heads of the statues of the twelve apostles on the Calvary in front of the church were cut off during the French Revolution and buried nearby. They were found again in 1849, restored and installed in the west facade of the church. Around 1870 the Klavarienberg itself was provided with new statues and the crucifix.
