Nui is one of the six atolls of Tuvalu . Nui has 542 inhabitants (as of 2012), a land area of ​​2.83  square kilometers and a lagoon area of more than 14 square kilometers.

Geography and climate

Nui consists of at least 21 islands . On the islands there is officially a village called Tanrake .

Tropical storms often occur in the rainy season from November to April. In March 2015, Nui was badly damaged by cyclone Pam with top speeds of 324 km / h. Most of the crops were lost.

Language and culture

The Nuians are Micronesians . You speak Kiribati . This distinguishes them from the rest of the inhabitants of Tuvalu, who are all Polynesians and speak Tuvaluan .
