The Pacific island state of Tuvalu is divided into a central and local administration.

Local administration is based on the Falekaupule Act of 1997. Local administration is under the Tuvalu Ministry of the Interior .

The law prescribes the establishment of a local administrative unit, the so-called Kaupule (in German  about Inselrat ) for every Falekaupule . There are therefore eight local administrative units. Each Kaupule has six members. The Kaupule meet quarterly . You are responsible for general administrative tasks in the respective Falekaupule, including transport and the provision and maintenance of public facilities.
