Numan Acar (born October 7, 1974 in Kozoglu , Kelkit district , Turkey ) is a German actor and film producer of Turkish origin. Numan Acar lived a large part of his childhood in the Wiesbaden Westend. As a producer, he specializes in German-Turkish productions . As an actor, he has appeared in various Turkish, German and US productions. Numan Acar is the founder of the film production company Acar Entertainment . In 2007 he worked as a producer on the Turkish series Menekse ve Halil , which was shot in Berlin.

Life

Numan Acar was born in the village of Kozoglu in the Kelkit District in northeastern Turkey. He lived in Erzincan until he was eight . In 1982 he emigrated to Germany. He is a passionate soccer player and played for the Wiesbaden clubs FC Nord, SKG Karadeniz and SuS Krefeld. Numan Acar completed an apprenticeship as a mason and made up his technical diploma. Then he studied civil engineering in Wiesbaden . During his studies, which he successfully completed in 2001, Numan began acting. It had its stage premiere with a theater adaptation of John Steinbeck's " Von Mäusen und Menschen ". Then he was drawn to the film industry; he started attending professional acting workshops in 2002.

In 2003 he made his way into the film business with the movie Kebab Connection . Inquiries from Turkey followed. The film Hacivat ve Karagöz neden öldürüldü (2005) was followed by Cenneti Beklerken by the renowned Turkish arthouse filmmaker Derviş Zaim . Various offers for cinema and television leading roles followed in Germany.

Acar lived in Istanbul and Berlin from 2004 to 2009.

In 2007 he founded the film production company Acar Entertainment in Wiesbaden and Berlin. With this company he produced the feature film Buried Voices . Numan Acar was the scriptwriter, director and lead actor for this film, which premiered at the 2014 Max Ophüls Prize film festival.

At the 25th Hessian Film Prize 2014, Acar received the script award for his second film project Christmas under the Crescent .

In the fourth season of the US television series Homeland , Acar plays the fictional Pakistani terrorist Haqqani, whose pursuit is one of the main themes of the season. The acting ensemble of the series was nominated for the American SAG Awards. He will take on this role again in 2019 in the final eighth season.
