The Oberhessische Zeitung (also called "OZ" for short) is a local newspaper that appears from Monday to Saturday around Alsfeld ( Vogelsbergkreis , Hesse ). Reports from the communities of Alsfeld, Antrifttal , Feldatal , Gemünden (Felda) , Grebenau , Homberg (Ohm) , Kirtorf , Romrod and Schwalmtal on political, economic and social events.

Just like the Gießener Anzeiger , the Kreis-Anzeiger , the Lauterbacher Anzeiger , the Usinger Anzeiger and formerly the Gelnhäuser Tageblatt , the Oberhessische Zeitung belongs to the  Central Hesse newspaper group. The cover section of all these newspapers is designed by the Gießener Anzeiger , while the local and sports editorial offices are in Alsfeld. That means, the second book is designed individually.

The sold circulation is 5342 copies, a decrease of 30 percent since 1998.

history

In 1833 the advertisement sheet for Alsfeld and the surrounding area was published for the first time . That was the forerunner of the Oberhessische Zeitung. It was brought into being and published by Friedrich Martin Ehrenklau, who initially printed in a tobacco factory and later moved the printing company to his house. The print shop has been in the family for five generations. Martin Ehrenklau, current owner of the family business, rents the building in which the OZ was previously printed to the Central Hesse newspaper group , where the editorial office is still located today.
