Oberiglbach is a district of the Ortenburg market in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .

location

Oberiglbach is located on the Iglbach about four kilometers northwest of Ortenburg.

history

The earliest documented mention of Iglbach comes from the reign of the Passau bishop Reginmar (1121 to 1138). Among the witnesses to an exchange of goods by the bishop are among other things also ministerials of the church, including an altman de igilpach . Witnesses named after Iglbach appear repeatedly in the documents of the 12th and 13th centuries. The distinction between Ober- and Unteriglbach was not made until the 14th century.

In 1808 the Iglbach tax district was formed in the Vilshofen district court . With the second community edict of 1818, the community of Oberiglbach came into being, which after various changes in 1821 was merged with the community of Unteriglbach to form 41 districts of Iglbach.

Oberiglbach also had its own school. From 1904 to 1910 Erhard Kutschenreuter was a teacher in Oberiglbach. From an ecclesiastical perspective, Oberiglbach was a branch of the Aunkirchen parish before the Oberiglbach Expositur was established in 1921 .

On October 1, 1970, the municipality of Iglbach merged with the municipality of Söldenau to form the new municipality of Wolfachau . On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Wolfachau was incorporated into the Ortenburg market as part of the regional reform .
