Oberjossa is a district of the municipality of Breitenbach am Herzberg in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in Hesse .
geography
Oberjossa is located on the Jossa in Knüll . The federal highway 62 leads past the northern outskirts.
history
The village was settled early on, as archaeological finds attest. To 807/814, handed down a Gisalher the monastery of Fulda his goods in Jossa with accessories.
The village was first mentioned in 802/17 under the name lassafa (9th century). Here are Jaza (1434) and Obernjoss in 1558. In 1585 lived 32 Hausgesesse in Oberjossa. Before 1585 and later it belonged to the Breitenbach court, Neukirchen office. The Thirty Years' War from 1618 to 1648 left its mark on the population. In 1681 only 7 people lived in Oberjossa. In 1780 there lived 4 linen weavers (also farmers), 1 tailor, 1 blacksmith, 2 landlords, 1 wagner, 1 miller, 3 day laborers, 2 single women; 8 pure farmers in the village.
After secularization from 1807–1813 it belongs to the Kingdom of Westphalia , department of Werra, district of Hersfeld, canton of Breitenbach. From 1814 to 1821 it moved to the Electorate of Hesse , Grafschaft Ziegenhain , Amt Neukirchen.
Modern times
- The school was built in 1908.
- The Bad Hersfeld – Treysa railway was operated from 1914 to 1999.
religion
Around 1450 the village was parish off to Grebenau . The change of confession in the course of the introduction of the Reformation in the Landgraviate of Hesse took place from 1526. In 1585 and later the village was parish off to Breitenbach .
The church was built in 1626. It existed until 1960.
The Evangelical Reformed parish of Breitenbach includes five villages: Breitenbach with the three parish communities Gehau , Machtlos and Oberjossa as well as the independent parish of Hatterode .
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1971, the place in the district of Ziegenhain was incorporated into the municipality of Breitenbach am Herzberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
