Upper Palatinate Railway
The Oberpfalzbahn is a brand of the Länderbahn in the Regentalbahn group . It carries out regional rail traffic around Cham and in the border area there on a total of three lines. It also operates a line from Marktredwitz to Regensburg and a cross-border line to Hof via Cheb in the Czech Republic .
description
In summer 2001, the new company took over the business with eleven railcar of the type Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 on the go in an eye-catching paint with the colors yellow and green. The corporate design, an inversion of the sister brand Waldbahn , was developed by Tricon AG.
Line network
The Upper Palatinate Railway runs on the Schwandorf – Furth im Wald routes , which since the 2015/2016 timetable change has continued to Domažlice (Taus) in the Czech Republic (OPB3), Cham – Lam (OPB4) and Cham – Waldmünchen (OPB5).
Since the timetable change in December 2014, the Upper Palatinate Railway has also been on the Regensburg – Marktredwitz (OPB1) and Marktredwitz – Cheb (OPB2) lines. The line OPB 2 was extended to the 2015/2016 timetable change to Hof Hbf via Aš (Asch) and Selb-Plößberg , where there is a connection in the direction of Selb Stadt . The railway line Hof Hbf – Aš – Cheb is served by the Upper Palatinate Railway every two hours, with most of the journeys going through to Marktredwitz. For this it was necessary to repair the cross-border section Selb-Plößberg-Aš , which had not been used since the end of the Second World War .

---|---|---|
OPB1 | Marktredwitz - Weiden (Oberpf) - Schwandorf - Regensburg | 60 |

There are also individual express services (OPX) from Regensburg Hbf to Marktredwitz and back, with stops only at the most important stations. The morning train from Schwandorf to Marktredwitz changes to line OPB2 and continues to Hof Hbf via the Czech corner.
vehicles
In 2000, 11 new Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 vehicles were purchased for the Cham sub -network. In 2013 2 used RS1s from the Prignitzer Railway were added. In 2014 all 13 vehicles were modernized.
For operations on the Regensburg - Marktredwitz - Schirnding route, Netinera signed a contract on December 20, 2011 with the Polish vehicle manufacturer PESA for the delivery of 12 two-part diesel multiple units. The trains should be delivered between June and December 2014. The 120 km / h vehicles belong to the LINK family from Pesa and are similar to the 31 units that were ordered by the Czech Railways in April 2011. A first multiple unit was exhibited at InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin.
As a result of registration problems, the order for the PESA-LINK vehicles was canceled. In February 2015, Alstom ordered LINT 41 to replace it . The vehicles were registered on February 24, 2016 and delivered between March and June 2016. In the meantime, Siemens Desiro Classic multiple units of the Vogtlandbahn and two LINT 54 multiple units of the Vlexx were used instead .
Tariff
The tariffs of the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Cham (VLC) as well as the DB local transport tariff between Schwandorf and Bodenwöhr and the Servus ticket on weekdays from 9 a.m. and on weekends apply on the route network . Tickets of the Regensburg Transport Association are recognized between Regensburg and Schwandorf. This has been the case since April 1, 2016 as far as Weiden and on the Schwandorf - Bodenwöhr route.
In addition, the spa cards of the municipalities participating in the Guest Service Environment Ticket and other municipalities that have concluded a contract with the VLC are valid as tickets on the trains of the Upper Palatinate Railway. The Bayerwald-Ticket is also valid on the Regentalbahn- Bad Kötzting – Lam route .
The ČD tariff applies on the Czech sections (lines OPB2 and OPB3).
