Oberreichenbach is located about 13 kilometers southwest of Freiberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains . The Oberreichenbacher Bach flows through the locality and flows into the Große Striegis in Oberschöna .
The local structure is a residual settlement with inconsistent hooves . In the source area of the Oberreichenbacher Bach there were fan-shaped hooves, while these were missing after Kirchbach and Linda. The meadows lined with bushes are a specialty. history
The forest hoof village Oberreichenbach was mentioned in a document in 1408 as "Reichenbach". In 1590 it was also mentioned under the name "Dürre Reichenbach" and later it was given its current name to distinguish it from the nearby Reichenbach near Nossen. The place was until 1856 in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon District Office Freiberg . The manorial rule over Oberreichenbach lay with the manor Oberschöna , which belonged in particular to the noble families Schönberg and Carlowitz . The church has always been parish to Langenau.
From 1856 Oberreichenbach belonged to the Brand Court Office and from 1875 to the Freiberg District Administration . With the second district reform in the GDR, the place came to the Brand-Erbisdorf district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On January 1, 1993, Oberreichenbach was incorporated into Langenau . With Langenau, Oberreichenbach came from the Saxon district of Brand-Erbisdorf to the district of Freiberg in 1994 and to the district of central Saxony in 2008. Due to the incorporation of Langenau into the large district town of Brand-Erbisdorf, Oberreichenbach has been part of the Brand-Erbisdorfer locality of Langenau since April 1, 2002.
