Oberwind is a district of the municipality of Auengrund in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

Oberwind is located north of Auengrund and northeast of Crock on the county road 526 in a valley bordered by the Thuringian Forest with foothills . The south side of the district is open to the warmer Franconian climate. The district of the village is between 450 and 530 meters above sea level and not far from the border with Bavaria .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document on October 28, 1323. The village was a Frondorf von Eisfeld . The former trade route Venice - Nuremberg - Erfurt went through the corridor and the village. In 1852, 52 families with 262 people lived in Oberwind. In 2012 there are 200 inhabitants.

During the GDR era, the local farmers were merged to form the LPG Berggold Oberwind , and further mergers and amalgamations followed. From 2002 to 2004, the town's infrastructure was extensively renovated as part of a village renewal program.
