Wiedersbach is a district of the municipality of Auengrund in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

Wiedersbach lies in the foothills of southern Thuringia on the stream of the same name. There are landscape protection areas around the place: the Hildburghausen Forest, the Elsterbachtal, the Wiedersbachsmoore, the Dinkelshaak and the Ratscher dam . Therefore, there is also a wealth of game in the area, although the federal road 4 and the state road 5063 lead into the village.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1304. Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen . From 1815 to 1945 Wiedersbach belonged to Prussia and administratively to the Schleusingen district .

Agriculture has always been the main source of income in the town thanks to its favorable climatic conditions. Now some of the 270 inhabitants work abroad. In 1962 a cultural center was built in the village.

Attractions

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Blasius , originally a fortified church , was built in 1487.
