Reviews
- Roger Ebert wrote on April 26, 1991 that the script was "intelligently written". The film deals with the ability of the characters shown to love and trust.
- Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post on April 19, 1991 that he would like more "collisions" between British and American humor.
- epd Film 8/1991: … Andie MacDowell and John Malkovich, who keep a delicate ironic distance to their roles, make such a bitchy, seductive couple that they overplay the lengths in the script and staging. Above all, they make Object of Beauty a pleasure that doesn't last a moment longer than the film is running, but is harmlessly entertaining for a hundred minutes.
This and that
The film, shot in London and Sardinia, grossed $ 5.2 million in US cinemas .
