Obscuratis is a Medieval - Folk -Formation from Osnabrück .

history

Obscuratis formed in 2006, but after a short time Fortuna, the first founding member, left the band. Shortly afterwards, Filia von Museberg , a multi-instrumental asset, joined the band. Obscuratis released their first self-produced album at the end of 2006 and it's called Mittelalter-native .

At the beginning of 2007 they were looking for a second drummer and found what they were looking for in Tigga va Oche . You have played at numerous market appearances at home and abroad, including with well-known bands such as Subway to Sally , Schelmish , Corvus Corax , Cultus Ferox and Saltatio Mortis . You were the opener band of the Medieval Emporium 2007 festival near Paderborn, where a lot of things that are well known in the scene have performed. At the end of the year Tigga va Oche was replaced by Zjold dem Zinker on the percussion.

In 2009 they released their second album Ad Infinitum , which even got a special report on Radio AENA . But shortly after the recordings for this CD, the founding member Amras left the band. The Frisian came into the band for him and has taken his place at the drums and the davul . In addition, Obscuratis was part of the large medieval group of bag rats. In early 2010, Obscuratis announced their split.

Some of the former members of the band play in the bands Reliquiae and Frendskopp , among others .

In early 2017 Reliquiae announced that the Obscuratis project would be revived as a side project of the band. Since then, the band has been playing on medieval markets in Germany again.

style

Obscuratis play medieval market music on classical, modern and extravagant instruments. Their style is to be seen as a middle alternative, as they do not stick to the original templates from the time. You have both reworked traditional songs and composed your own songs. In addition to the instruments typical of the scene, such as the bagpipes , shawm or davul , they have also used instruments that are more unfamiliar to the scene , such as the violin or djembé , in their music.

Obscuratis' logo is an "O", in which there is a plague doctor with a beak mask who plays a bagpipe . The logo was revised when the band was re-established, the "O" now only adorns a beak mask.

Trivia

Filia von Museberg is the sister of guitarist Greif , the Osnabrück dark metal band Nachtblut , which is under contract with the Austrian label Napalm Records .

Tigga va Oche got an artificial shoulder joint in mid-2009 due to an accident in August 1997. He recovered quickly from the operation and was back on the drums with the medieval formation Frendskopp in 2010 .
