Ochsenweide is the name of a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxon communities Moorweg and Holtgast in the combined community of Esens in the Wittmund district .

The former nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 109 is 67  hectares in size. It is completely part of the FFH area "Ochsenweide, Schafhauser Wald und Feuchtwiesen bei Esens". The area has been under nature protection since September 29, 1960. On March 24, 1984, it was expanded to include additional areas previously designated as a landscape protection area. On February 1, 2019, the newly designated nature reserve " Ochsenweide, Schafhauser Wald und Feuchtwiesen bei Esens " was listed. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Wittmund.

The former nature reserve is located southwest of Esens. It is a superficially peated high moor , which today has the character of a transitional moor . Peat moss , cotton grass, pipe grass as well as sedge reeds and reeds settle in the area . In parts of the area, bog forest and gray willow - birch bushes are thick. The area is the habitat of various insects , amphibians and reptiles . It also has a special meaning for Limikolen .

The former nature reserve lies in the valley of the Benser Tief , which flows through the area, but is not part of it.
