Oconee is about 20 km southwest of Sandersville . The next larger cities are Macon (80 km west) and Augusta (110 km northeast).

According to the 2010 census, the then 252 inhabitants were distributed over 82 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.49 people per household. There are a total of 103 households.
