The Oder Partnership (Polish Partnerstwo-Odra ) is an informal cooperation network established in 2006 between four East German federal states and four West Polish voivodships , which serves to deepen the political, economic and infrastructural links between the regions on both sides of the Oder and Lusatian Neisse rivers. The main objective of the project-related cooperation in the priority areas of economy, tourism, transport and infrastructure as well as science and research is to strengthen the economic performance of the regions along the German-Polish border.

On the German side, the cooperation partners of the Oder partnership are the states of Berlin , Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony , and on the Polish side, the Voivodeships of Greater Poland , Lubuskie , Lower Silesia and West Pomerania . The large cities of the participating voivodships are also involved in the work of the network. H. the three western Polish metropolises of Wroclaw , Poznan and Stettin as well as the two capitals of the Voivodeship Lubuskie, Gorzów Wielkopolski and Zielona Góra . In addition, the Oder partnership works closely with the regional planning committee of the German-Polish government commission for regional and border cooperation .

The strategic guidelines for the work of the cooperation network are determined in the context of top political meetings that take place alternately in Germany and Poland, in which the prime ministers , voivods and marshals as well as city ​​presidents from the regions involved take part. So far, five top political meetings have taken place in addition to the kick-off conference:

  • Kick-off conference on April 5, 2006 in Berlin, under the motto "Neighbors, partners, strong regions"
  • First top political meeting on November 5, 2008 in Poznan
  • Second top political meeting on January 13, 2010 in Potsdam
  • Third top political meeting on October 26th and 27th, 2010 in Szczecin
  • Fourth top political meeting on November 20 and 21, 2012 in Greifswald
  • Fifth top political meeting on January 12th and 13th, 2016 in Wroclaw

The most important results of the previous cooperation of the Oder partnership include the transport infrastructure map of the German-Polish border area, the joint tourist marketing of the regions involved in non-European markets as well as improvements in cross-border rail transport, the subject of the work of the Transport Association Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) coordinated Round table traffic is the Oder partnership.

Since 2015, the states and voivodships of the Oder Partnership have been working together with the responsible ministries of the Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany, within the framework of the Spatial Planning Committee of the German-Polish government commission for regional and border cooperation, to develop a "Common Future Concept 2030 for the German-Polish integrated region ".
