Oekolampad Church

The parish hall Oekolampad (popularly simply the Oek ) is an evangelical reformed church in the city of Basel that has been converted since 2011 .

The church is located in the district Gotthelf on Allschwilerplatz and belonged to the community Oekolampad that went up in the parish Basel-West of 2010. It is named after the Basel reformer Johannes Oekolampad ; a plaque attached to the entrance in 1994 reminds of him, and since 2004 of his wife Wibrandis Rosenblatt .

The building with the adjacent rectory was designed by the architects Emil Bercher and Eugen Tamm and built using clinker brick . The building was inaugurated in 1931, financed to a not inconsiderable extent by donations from community members. The building is a listed building .

The annually recurring bazaar of the Anglican Church Basel takes place in the church.

From 1931 to spring 1946 Walter Lüthi worked as a pastor at the Oekolampad Church. In the face of the threat of World War II, he encouraged a great sense of togetherness in the community.

The last service was celebrated in the church on December 18, 2011. The church has been used as a conference room since then.
