Zwinglihaus (Basel)
The Zwinglihaus is an Evangelical Reformed church in the city of Basel . Named after the reformer Ulrich Zwingli named church located in the district Gundeldingen at the Gundeldingerstrasse 370 and part of the municipal district of Zwingli the parish Gundeldingen-Bruderholz (until November 2013 St. Elisabethen ).
The building was built in 1931/1932 by the architect Willi Kehlstadt in the Bauhaus style and inaugurated on October 2, 1932. The original construction program envisaged the construction of a church and a parish hall, the current Zwinglihaus, and a rectory . Because the church was not built , the house , which was originally conceived as a non- sacred space, was liturgically upgraded.
In 1985 a five-part, large-format glass painting cycle with biblical motifs was installed. It was designed by the Basel artist Hanns Studer . The building was renovated in 1994 and added to the cantonal register of monuments in 1996.
