Oktay Vural

Oktay Vural (born February 9, 1956 in Diyarbakır ) is a Turkish business lawyer, official and parliamentary group leader of the right-wing extremist party of the Nationalist Movement (MHP).

He completed the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University in 1979 , received his Masters in 1983 in the Finance Department of the Faculty of Economics of Aegean University and in 1987 his PhD in Economics at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of September 9th . In 1988 he became an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at the University of September 9.

He later became Chairman of the Board and General Director of BOTAŞ Boru Hatları ile Petrol Taşıma A.Ş. , Member of the supervisory board Devlet Denetleme Kurulu of the presidential office, chairman of the board and general director of Türkiye Gübre Sanayi A.Ş. , Member of the Demokraside Birlik Vakfı and the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO .

In the 1999 elections he was elected MP for Izmir to the Grand National Assembly and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology. The DSP Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit appointed him transport minister in the Ecevit V cabinet on July 30, 2001 , which he remained until August 5, 2002. In 2007 and 2011 , Vural was again a member of parliament and chairman of the MHP parliamentary group.

Vural has been married since 1988 and has two children with his wife († November 2014) and is a member of the Galatasaray Congress.
