Abdulhaluk Çay

Abdulhaluk Mehmet Çay (born December 23, 1945 in İskilip ) is a Turkish Turkist , scientist and politician. He became known for his controversial theses on the Turkish origin of the Sumerians and Guteans , the Kurdish language and the origin of the term " Kurd ".

Life and teaching

Abdulhaluk Çay was born in İskilip in 1945. His father İsmail was a postal worker, his mother's name was Nuriye. He spent the first year of his life in his hometown, then his father was transferred and the family moved to Amasya . There Abdulhaluk Çay attended the first two primary school classes. He completed the other primary school classes in Çorum , the middle school from 1957 again in Amasya. Çay attended grammar school from 1960 in Çorum and from 1961 to 1963 in Amasya. After finishing school, the family moved to Istanbul . Abdulhaluk Çay studied there at the Humanities Faculty of Istanbul University . He headed the Turkic Association in Kadıköy and got to know Nihal Atsız and Necip Fazıl Kısakürek .

After completing his studies, he taught at various grammar schools and universities and wrote his dissertation on the battle of Myriokephalon / Karmıkbeli (Turkish Myriokephalon / Karmıkbeli Zaferi ). His habilitation dealt with Kılıç Arslan II. Çay has been a professor since 1989 and taught at Hacettepe University , where he became director of the institute.

Abdulhaluk Çay is married and has two children.

politics

Abdulhaluk Çay was a member of the Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi and ran for the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 1995 . However, his party failed in the 1995 election because of the ten percent hurdle. The 1999 election as MP for Çorum was successful. Abdulhaluk Çay became a member of parliament and later Minister of State in Cabinet V of Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit . His area of ​​responsibility was relations with the Turkish world. Due to differences with his party leader Devlet Bahçeli , he was fired. In 2002 he ran unsuccessfully for the Doğru Yol Partisi . He broke off the candidacy for the 2007 election in the Büyük Birlik Partisi of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu .

In 2012 he joined the newly founded Milliyetçi Türkiye Partisi .
