Zeki Sezer

Mehmet Zeki Sezer (born April 12, 1957 in Eskişehir ) is a Turkish chemical engineer and former minister and chairman of the Democratic Left Party , he was elected at the party congress in 2004 after the resignation of Bülent Ecevit .

Sezer attended the M. Rüştü Uzel Chemistry Vocational School and graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Gazi University in Ankara . He completed his four-month military service in 1983.

During his high school and university years, Sezer played volleyball for various clubs . He also has a special interest in art. He began his career in 1975 as a chemical technician in the public service and later as a chemical engineer.

His political career in the Democratic Left Party (DSP) began in 1988. Sezer served as secretary of the DSP local association in Çankaya , as vice chairman of the DSP in Ankara and in 1991 became a member of the executive committee. He also served twice as the party's general secretary. Between 2001 and 2004 he was vice chairman of the DSP. At the 6th Party Congress on July 25, 2004, he followed Bülent Ecevit. With his resignation on April 11th, 2009 he was succeeded as chairman Masum Türker .

In the 1999 elections , Sezer was elected a member of the Grand National Assembly for Ankara and served in the Ecevit V cabinet as Minister of State under Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit.

Sezer is married to Ülkenur Sezer and has two children.
