Olav Offerdahl (born December 12, 1857 in Årdal , † October 7, 1930 in Bussum ) was a Norwegian clergyman and the shepherd of the Catholic Church in Norway from 1928 to 1930.

Life

Offerdahl came from a farming village in the province of Sogn og Fjordane . After completing his teacher training, he became a teacher in Bergen in 1879 . There he converted to the Catholic Church on October 31, 1880 and taught at the Catholic primary school. In 1884 he began studying philosophy and theology with the aim of becoming a priest. He studied in Turnhout and from 1886 in Rome .

The Cardinal Vicar , Lucido Maria Cardinal Parocchi , ordained him on November 22, 1891 . Pope Pius XI appointed him on October 11, 1928 Apostolic Administrator of Norway and Svalbard , on March 12, 1930 Vicar Apostolic of Norway and Svalbard and on April 3, 1930 titular Bishop of Selja .

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Wilhelmus Marinus Cardinal van Rossum CSsR , donated him episcopal ordination on April 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani , Secretary of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , and Giovanni Battista Federico Vallega , Senior Archbishop of Izmir .

He died during a trip to the Netherlands .
