Oldemühle is a district of Göttien belongs to the municipality coasts in the Samtgemeinde Lüchow (Wendland) in Lower Saxony Lüchow-Dannenberg .
location
Oldemühle is north of Göttien on the road towards Karmitz .
history
The settlement was built around a water mill that was operated by two millers in the nineteenth century and was an after-fief of the von Plato and von Estorf families . The village of Olde Carmitz , which was abandoned and merged with today's Karmitz, was previously located at the mill . The mill could not be relocated and remained at the mill stream.
There were disputes between the two miller families in the 17th century, which led to a wall with a door being pulled through the mill, for which both millers had a key. The mill was operated by the two millers on a weekly basis.
The old mill was north of the stream. Around 1800 a new building was built on the southern bank, which separated the two millers. In the statistical handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover, two mills and 17 inhabitants are recorded for 1848. In 1880, both mills came into one hand through purchase and the older mill to the north was then demolished. Today several families live on the Mühlenhof.
