Location of Sallahn in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district |
Sallahn (slav. Sol '= salt) is part of the municipality coasts in the Samtgemeinde Lüchow (Wendland) in Lower Saxony Lüchow-Dannenberg . The place is 12 km northwest of Lüchow on the district road from Lübeln to Metzingen on a transition belt between the Hohe Geest and the Jeetzel lowlands . The Breustianer Mühlenbach rises on the northern edge of the village .
In 1450 the place is first mentioned as Sollan. Two kilometers northwest of Sallahn, a salt spring rises for the first time in 1622 , which was considered medicinal water and dried up again and again. In 1924 a memorial stone was set up at the source. The individual community was merged into one community with Klein Witzeetze in 1929 . As part of the municipal reform in 1972, this municipality became a district of the coast. In Sallahn and the surrounding villages there was a row school according to the Dannenberg school regulations of 1687 , which later received a building in Klein Witzeetze. The school was taught until 1972. In the 1970s, the place was expanded to include a housing estate. The place had mostly around 150 inhabitants in the last two hundred years. Despite the expansion to include the housing estate, the number of residents has decreased continuously over the past decades. In Sallahn there is a rifle club that maintains a shooting range. Sallahn belongs to the parish of Krummasel .
