history

General

In a document dated May 18, 1293, "dy Tannyebergische Bach" was mentioned. This is the first indirect documentary mention of the Waldhufendorf Tanneberg. The place has belonged to this rule since the establishment of the Kriebstein rule in the last third of the 14th century. Around 1551 the manor Kriebstein is documented as the landlord of the place. In 1588, Tanneberg came under the administration of the electoral office of Rochlitz with the rule of Kriebstein . The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Tanneberg came under the administration of the Mittweida court office in 1856 . In 1875 the place was subordinated to the administration of the administrative authority Rochlitz .

Through the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Tanneberg came to the newly founded district of Hainichen in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Hainichen from 1990. During the administrative reform in the Free State of Saxony in 1994, the place was merged with the neighboring Lauenhain to form the municipality of Lauenhain-Tanneberg and assigned to the newly formed Mittweida district .

On January 1, 1999, the municipality Lauenhain-Tanneberg was voluntarily incorporated into the city of Mittweida. Due to the main statute of the city of Mittweida from 1994, the current districts of Tanneberg and Lauenhain received a joint local constitution and a joint local council. Since 2008, the city of Mittweida and its districts have been part of the newly formed Central Saxony district .

Spelling and meaning of the place name

  • 1293 Tanneberg stream
  • 1350, 1378 Tannenberg

The meaning of the name is undoubtedly recognizable as a settlement on a mountain, here it is the plateau above the Zschopau, which was obviously overgrown by fir trees. The place name goes back to a field name.
