history

Look at Kockisch

The radial forest hoof village Kockisch was first mentioned in the year 1300 as "Kakacz, Kuckatzschs". Later place names are "Kockitzsch" (1551) and "Kockisch" (1606 and 1875). The name describes the natural curvature of the Zschopau in the local area. It comes from the existing Slavic field name "Kukacz", which means "curvature of the river".

From 1300 Kockisch belonged to the Mittweidaer church. After the Reformation in 1544, the Mittweida council became the new landlord over the place. Since then he has belonged to the Rochlitz office . In 1764, Kockisch and Rößgen became official villages of the Hereditary Office of Meissen as exclaves . Boundary stones with the "M" for Meissen can be found in the local area up to the present day. In 1832 both places were subordinated to the Office of Frankenberg-Sachsenburg . The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Kockisch came under the administration of the Mittweida court office in 1856 . In 1875 the place was subordinated to the administration of the administrative authority Rochlitz . In the same year, the newly established Weißthal factory estate was incorporated. Both places were incorporated into the city of Mittweida on August 1, 1923.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Kockisch and Weißthal came as districts of the city of Mittweida in 1952 to the district of Hainichen in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Hainichen from 1990 and in 1994 administrative reform to the newly formed Mittweida district came. Since 2008, the city of Mittweida and its districts have been part of the newly formed Central Saxony district .
