Gühlitz ( Polabisch gol'a = heath ) is a district and a district of the municipality coasts in the Samtgemeinde Lüchow (Wendland) in Lower Saxony Lüchow-Dannenberg .
location
The place is 6 km west of Lüchow south of the federal highway 493 from Lübeln to coasts in the Niederen Geest at the south foot of a Geest island. Gühlitz is a circular route accessible from the north with an almost circular village square. From the south a road leads from Satemin to Gühlitz.
history
The place is listed in the Winsener treasure register from 1450 as Gulitze . As part of the municipal reform in 1972, the formerly independent municipality of Gühlitz became a district of the coastal area. The population decreased in the last two hundred years from almost one hundred (1821) to less than fifty inhabitants. Gühlitz belongs to the Meuchefitz parish .
Watermill
South of the village is a watermill on the Gühlitzer Mühlenbach , which was first mentioned in 1476 in the von Wustrow family's property register. It later becomes the property of the sovereign and is subordinate to the Wustrow office and from 1779 to the Lüchow office , because the surrounding villages also belonged to the Lüchow office. The tenants and later the owners of the mill changed very often. In the second half of the 19th century, the miller built a post mill between Seerau im Drawehn and the water mill , which was damaged after a surprising storm and later demolished. A wind turbine with a compass rose is then mounted on the mill . A construction that is unique in Lower Saxony. At the turn of the century, the mill was also expanded into a steam and water mill with a wind turbine. The wind turbine had to be reattached later because cracks formed in the masonry. It was a grain and at times also an oil mill . In 1921 the Michaelis family bought the mill, which they still own today. Since the regulation of the mill stream, the mill pond has no more inflow. The interior is well preserved and can be viewed by appointment. The mill is located on the Lower Saxony Mill Road .
