Location of Süthen in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district

Süthen is a district of the coastal community in the combined community of Lüchow (Wendland) in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony . The place is 6 km west of Lüchow in the Niederen Geest in an area of spring waters of the Lübelner Mühlenbach. Süthen is an easily recognizable circular structure with sector-shaped courtyard parcels around a small village square.

In 1296, the Mecklenburg record book named the place "Suthem". The village mayor and chronicler Johann Parum Schultze lived in Süthen in the 17th and 18th centuries. His courtyard was opposite the northern entrance of the Rundling. A two-column house he built in Süthen is now in the Rundlingsmuseum in Lübeln . In his notes he described life in Süthen and the surrounding Wendland villages. In 1929 the unified municipality was merged with Naulitz. As part of the municipal reform in 1972, this municipality became a district of the coast. The place had over one hundred and forty inhabitants in the 19th century. Süthen belongs to the coastal parish . In addition to a riding stable, there is also a horse shelter in Dorf, where horses live that have been rescued from poor husbandry or slaughter.
