history

The Mecklenburg record book first reported in 1296 about "Tolzeuanze". As part of the municipal reform in 1972, the previously independent municipality of Tolstefanz became a part of the coastal area. The population was just over 100 in the 19th century and has since decreased continuously, interrupted by an influx of refugees after the Second World War . Tolstefanz belongs to the parish of Krummasel .

Besemühle

As early as 1330, the Besemühle am Lübelner Mühlenbach is mentioned in the Lüneburg feudal register. It belonged to the von Knesebeck family and was 1 km southeast of Tölstefanz. It was originally a grain mill which also included a sawmill in the 19th century . In 1845 and shortly after 1900 the mill burned down. It was not rebuilt after the second fire. The mill with its buildings and facilities must have been the size of a small town. After the stream regulation, nothing more can be found of the important place apart from a desert and the field name "Beesmöll". The local poet Harry Halbom wrote the play "Der Müller von der Besemühle".
