Olivier Tielemans (born June 1, 1984 in Weert ) is a Dutch automobile racing driver .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts, Tielemans began his career in karting , in which he was active from 1991 to 1997. After a long break, he got into formula racing in 2002 . His main focus was on the Italian Formula Renault Campus , in which he finished fourth overall with four wins. He also took part in one race each of the Italian Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocups . In 2003 he was fifth overall in the Dutch Formula Renault as well as in the Benelux Formula Renault.

After Tielemans hadn't found a cockpit in 2004, he started for the Astromega team in the second half of the Formula 3000 season . He replaced Jan Heylen . The Dutchman never made it into the top ten and finished 21st in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. After he had not received a cockpit in the Formula 3000 successor series GP2 , he started in the 3000 Pro Series for the Scuderia Famà . His best result was fifth and at the end of the season he finished eighth in the overall ranking.

In 2006 he switched to touring car racing and competed in the DTM for the Futurecom TME racing team , which used Audis . Due to problems with the management, he was replaced by his compatriot Jeroen Bleekemolen after just three races . In the overall ranking he finished 21st. He also started in two races of the Mégane Trophy Eurocup . In 2007 Tielemans switched to the WTCC and started for the Italian team N.Technology in an Alfa Romeo 156 . He remained without points and was 22nd overall. At the last race weekend he was replaced by André Couto . In 2008 he stayed in the WTCC and switched to Wiechers-Sport , which used a BMW 320si . Tielemans only took part in six out of twelve race weekends. In the overall ranking he finished 20th overall with one point. In the Independents' Trophy he won two races and was seventh.

Tielemans has not started any races since the end of the 2008 WTCC season.
