Wiechers-Sport is a private German motorsport team from Nienburg an der Weser . Team owner is Wolfgang Kruse , team manager is Dominik Greiner. The business company on which the sports team is based is a leading European manufacturer of roll cages .

history

The Wiechers-Sport racing team was founded in 1999. In his first year for Wiechers-Sport, Dirk Adorf took part in the German Touring Car Challenge with an Opel Astra G and finished eighth in the championship. In the DTC-Light class, Thomas Schiemann won the runner-up in a BMW 320i E36 . In 2000 Adorf was sixth in the championship and Schiemann, who was now driving in the top class, was 13th. Instead of the E36, an E46 was now used. In 2001 Schiemann became the team's technical director. Michael Gerhardt moved up for him and immediately finished eleven in the championship. Dirk Adorf managed his only podium finish at the Nürburgring and was only 17th at the end of the season. In 2002 the Opel Astra and the BMW E46 were replaced by two new E46s. Dirk Adorf switched to the V8-Star , but was still supported by Wiechers-Sport. He reached the eighth championship place. Thomas Winkelhock became his successor in the DTC . In his first season for the team he was runner-up. Michael Gerhardt also did well with a fourth championship course. In the 2003 season, Winkelhock won at the Salzburgring and in Oschersleben . Winkelhock finished the championship in fifth and Gerhardt in sixth. Dirk Adorf took part in the V8-Star and in the BFGoodrich endurance championship with the support of Wiechers-Sport . In 2004 Wiechers-Sport also competed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and in the Guia Race in Macau . It was the last season that Wiechers-Sport contested in the DMSB production car championship.

In 2005 Wiechers-Sport entered the World Touring Car Championship with a BMW 320i E46, which was driven by Marc Hennerici . Hennerici won the private driver championship at the end of the season. 2006 denied Diego Romanini a full season for Wiechers-Sport. A second vehicle was now used, initially driven by Emmet O'Brien and later by Oscar Hidalgo and Jan Vonka . However, the team was unsuccessful this season as the drivers mostly only drove at the bottom of the field. In 2007 Wiechers-Sport now used a BMW 320si , which was driven by Stefano d'Aste . D'Aste won the private driver championship. In the 2008 season took Olivier Tielemans , Takayuki Aoki , Laurent Cazenave , Duncan Huisman , Kristian Poulsen and Matthew Marsh part in the WTCC to Wiechers-BMW. At the season opener in Curitiba , Tielemans achieved a world championship point with eighth place. Marsh also succeeded at the end of the season in Macau. For the 2009 season , Stefano d'Aste returned to Wiechers-Sport. At the world championship races in Pau , Cazenave took part on a second vehicle. 2010 goes Mehdi Bennani for Wiechers-Sport.
