Olsztyn (German: Holstin , Hohlstein ) is a village and seat of the rural community of the same name in Poland in the Silesian Voivodeship in the powiat Częstochowski .

Olsztyn is located ten kilometers southeast of the district town of Częstochowa and 200 km southwest of Warsaw in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura , in the historical region of Lesser Poland .
history
Olsztyn received its town charter in 1488 from the Polish king Kazimierz Jagiellończyk . However, Olsztyn lost it in 1870 under Russian administration.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality was part of the Częstochowa Voivodeship .

Attractions
Olsztyn is known for its castle ruins on a limestone cliff from the 14th century. The castle was first mentioned in 1306 and destroyed by Swedish troops in 1656 during the Second Northern War . Today it is a popular tourist destination and a stop on the Eagle's Nest Culture Trail (Szlak Orlich Gniazd) .
