Omar Tomasoni

Omar Tomasoni (* 1984 in Orzinuovi , Province of Brescia ) is an Italian trumpeter .

Life

Tomasoni studied trumpet at the Conservatorio Luca Marenzio in Brescia , where he graduated " cum laude ". He also attended master classes a . a. with Pierre Thibaud , Fred Mills , Stephen Burns , Hans Gansch , Max Sommerhalder , Giuseppe Bodanza , Vincent Penzarella and Philip Smith . In 1996 and 1997 he won the music competition of the city of Cremona and 1999 of the city of Manerbio .

Shortly afterwards he began his career as solo trumpeter with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala , the Janáček Festival Orchestra, the New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra , the World Youth Orchestra and from 2004 to 2008 with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under Zubin Mehta . From 2001 to 2003 he was also a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra . In 2008 Tomasoni was appointed principal trumpeter of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia under Antonio Pappano , until he finally moved to the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam in August 2013 .

As a substitute he also worked u. a. with the Vienna Mozart Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra . Omar Tomasoni is a member and co-founder of the eclectic brass quintet “Italian Wonderbrass” and holds master classes.
