Ibrahima Niane (born March 11, 1999 in M'bour ) is a Senegalese football player who has been under contract with the French first division club FC Metz since July 2017 . The striker is a former Senegalese U-20 international .

Career

society

Niane began his career in his home country at AS Génération Foot , where he has played for the first team since at least the summer of 2016. In the 2016/17 season he shot the first division team to the championship title and was top scorer with 19 goals. After the season he joined the mother club FC Metz in the French Ligue 1 , where various Senegalese players, such as Papiss Demba Cissé , Sadio Mané Diafra Sakho and Ismaïla Sarr , made their breakthrough in the recent past. He made his debut in the Grenats jersey on August 5, 2017 (1st matchday) in a 3-1 home defeat against EA Guingamp . The 2017/18 season got off to a devastating start for Metz and they had to fight to stay in the league. The striker Niane also did not get in step for a long time and only scored his first league goal on January 21, 2018 (22nd matchday) in the 1: 3 away defeat against AS Monaco . With only one more goal of the season in 30 appearances, he could not avert relegation to Ligue 2 as bottom of the table.

In the following season 2018/19 he won the Ligue 2 championship with FC Metz and thus achieved direct promotion with them. During this season he was only a substitute behind his compatriot Habib Diallo , but as a joker he often scored decisive goals and was on the top scorer list ten times. In the following 2019/20 season , he scored three times in 21 league appearances.

National team

With the Senegalese U-20 national team , he took part in the U-20 Africa Cup of 2017 in Zambia . There you failed in the final on the host. Niane scored two goals in the tournament. In the same year he reached the round of 16 with the U20s at the U-20 World Cup 2017 .

At the U-20 World Cup in 2019 , he scored three goals and prepared two more when he and his home country failed in a dramatic round of 16 against South Korea . He played a total of 15 international matches for this selection, in which he scored six goals.
