Omer Alfred Robidoux

Omer Alfred Robidoux OMI (born December 19, 1913 in Saint-Pierre-Jolys , Manitoba , Canada ; † November 12, 1986 ) was a Canadian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Churchill-Hudson Bay .

Life

Omer Alfred Robidoux joined the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary in 1934 and studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the University of Ottawa . He received on 29 June 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Robidoux was at the University of Manitoba for a doctor of theology doctorate .

From 1941 to 1951, Omer Alfred Robidoux served as a missionary in Lestock , Saskatchewan . He then taught at the High and Elementary School in Lebret until 1958 , before becoming director and teacher at the Assiniboia School in Winnipeg . From 1965 to 1970 Robidoux was responsible for adult education in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg .

On March 7, 1970 Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Churchill-Hudson Bay. The Archbishop of Winnipeg, George Bernard Cardinal Flahiff CSB , donated him episcopal ordination on May 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Saint-Boniface , Maurice Baudoux , and the Archbishop of Keewatin-Le Pas , Paul Dumouchel OMI.

His grave is in Saint Boniface Cemetery in Winnipeg.
