history
founding
One Fine Day Films was founded in 2008 by Tom Tykwer and Marie Steinmann-Tykwer in Berlin. The decisive factor for the foundation was the idea of giving young African filmmakers the necessary prerequisites in the form of mentoring programs in Nairobi to realize their own stories on film and to be able to show them to an international audience on the big screen. One Fine Day Film has now produced six feature films, including Nairobi Half Life , the most successful film in Kenya to date .
One Fine Day Films Workshop
One Fine Day Films established its mentoring programs in the form of workshops, which now take place annually in Nairobi. Here, young African filmmakers can submit their ideas after successful applications and at the end of the day they can realize the selected idea as a feature film. These workshops offer training in 14 different master classes . Every year, German experts look after the different categories and try to adapt the scholarship specifically to the individual requirements of the individual participants. The film, which will be shot at the end of the workshop, is produced in cooperation with Ginger Ink. And DW Akademie der Deutsche Welle .
The workshop is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Goethe-Institut and ARRI Media .
