Orazio Francesco Piazza
Orazio Francesco Piazza (born October 4, 1953 in Solopaca , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sessa Aurunca .
Life
Orazio Francesco Piazza received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Telese o Cerreto Sannita on June 25, 1978 .
Piazza studied at the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy in Naples , where in 1978, he the licentiate acquired in theology and in 1983 Dr. theol. received his doctorate . From 1997 he taught social ethics at the Università del Sannio in Benevento . At the theological faculty for southern Italy he taught as a professor of ecclesiology and Mariology .
From 1989 until his appointment as bishop he was clergyman assistant of the Catholic Action in the diocese of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant'Agata de 'Goti.
On June 25, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sessa Aurunca . The Archbishop of Naples , Crescenzio Cardinal Sepe , ordained him episcopal on September 21st of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant'Agata de 'Goti, Michele De Rosa , and the former Apostolic Nuncio to Israel, Archbishop Antonio Franco .
Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints on April 14, 2018 . On April 30, 2019, Pope Francis also appointed him Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Diocese of Alife-Caiazzo .
Orazio Francesco Piazza is Grand Officer of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
