The Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir ( Croatian Red krune kralja Zvonimira ) was a state award of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH). The Order of Merit was donated on May 17, 1941 by the leader Ante Pavelić in memory of Dmitar Zvonimir as a civil and military order. An award to foreigners was possible as long as the award criteria were met.

Classes

The order consists of five classes as well as an associated medal in three levels ( gold - gold - plated , silver and bronze ) and could also be awarded with oak leaves for exceptional merits .

Order decoration

The medal is a bronze, gilt, white, enamelled, gold-rimmed Croatian trefoil . On the arms of the cross there are vertical or horizontal twisted ornaments . In the medallion a gold's crown displayed.

If there was an award for military merit, two crossed swords are placed under the medallion . When awarded with oak leaves, the medallion was enclosed by a green enameled oak wreath that was open at the top.

On the back of the medal is the inscription BOG I HRVATI (God and Croatia) on the horizontal arms of the cross . In the upper arm of the cross the year 1076 (Zvonimir's coronation year ) and in the lower arm 1941 (establishment of the Independent State of Croatia ).

The round medal hanging on a crown shows the image of Dmitar Zvonimir looking to the left in his royal robe with the corresponding inscription. On the reverse the state coat of arms enclosed by a laurel wreath .

When awarded with oak leaves, these were attached as a small wreath on the triangular ribbon.

Carrying method

The grand cross was carried on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip and with a silver eight-pointed breast star on which the medal is placed. The first class was awarded as a neck medal , the second class as a cross and the III. Class and the medal worn on a triangular ribbon on the left side of the chest.

The ribbon is red with wide white stripes.

The owners of the Grand Cross and the first class had the right to use the title Vitez ( knight ) in their names.
