Origin is an American death metal band from Topeka , Kansas . They play very technical, brutal and fast death metal .
Band history
Founded in 1997 took Origin in the summer of 1998, the self-financed demo - EP A Coming into Existence on. In October of the same year the band performed with Nile and Cryptopsy on the Death Across America tour.
With a new line-up , the band made an appearance with Napalm Death in April 1999 and in December they signed a record deal with Relapse Records.
Shows with Cephalic Carnage , Vader , Dying Fetus and Exhumed followed in 2000 . In July, the debut album Origin was released.
Before the second studio album Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas was released in 2002 , there was another line-up change. Many tours followed, including with Immolation .
With a renewed line-up, the band gave a concert in Kansas in September 2003 , during which the music video for the song portal was recorded. In January 2004 a tour followed as a headliner on the west coast of the USA.
In March 2005 Origin released the album Echoes of Decimation . The band then went on tour for a total of 52 days and only three gigs had to be canceled.
In 2006 some members left the band again.
In February 2008 they finished with the recordings for the fourth studio album Antithesis and released it in April of the same year. The album reached number 21 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. In May 2008, the music video for the song Finite was released.
The band announced in February 2010 that James Lee had left the band after more than nine years as a singer. Mica "Maniac" Meneke, who initially accompanied the band on the Thrash and Burn Tour, was won as a replacement . Previously he was u. a. active at The Faceless .
In early March 2011, the band posted a comment on the upcoming tour with Hate Eternal via Facebook , in which the band also announced their new singer Jason Keyser ( Skinless , Mucopus ).
After the previous albums were distributed by Relapse Records , the band signed a worldwide contract with the music label Nuclear Blast at the end of 2010 , where their fifth studio album entitled Entity was released in June 2011 . The album's artwork comes from Colin Marks, who has worked with bands like Suicide Silence , Nevermore , and Exodus .
